- with CODE (853) MB standard cellular telephone
- with CODE (854) MB portable cellular telephone
Commissioning
Before the telephone can be used, it is necessary to log into the telephone network (D-net). For this purpose, the SIM card (Subscriber Identification Module) is required. After inserting the SIM card (already in telephone transmitter/receiver with permanently installed telephone depending on system) and then subsequent switching on with the On/Off switch on the telephone handset (A34) or on the portable CTEL (A34/6) it is necessary for the user to enter the PIN code (Personal Identification Number) when requested to do so. This number prevents unauthorized us of the card and therefore protects against misuse. If the number is entered correctly, the telephone logs into the service provider's network. The telephone is then ready for use.
Incorrectly entering the code three times in sequence disables the card, which can be re-enabled with the aid of a personal eight-digit re-enable number (PUK, personal unblocking key or also super PIN). This enables a new, or the previous correct PIN number to be entered. If the PUK number is entered incorrectly ten times in sequence, the card is rendered unusable and it is necessary to apply to the provider for a new card.
Accepting a call
A call can be accepted by the user in a number of ways:
^ Lifting up the telephone handset (A34) (fixed installation), call handling via the telephone handset (A34).
^ Pressing the corresponding function key, telephone handset (A34) (fixed installation) or portable CTEL remains in cradle, call conducted over hands-free system.
^ On vehicles with a voice control system (VCS) code (813): press the VCS switch (S93/2).
^ Use the accept/terminate phone call button (S111s3) in the multifunction steering wheel.
During a call the user can switch between the telephone handset, portable CTEL or hands-free system operating modes.
Telephone memory
When entering the number, it is possible for the user to simplify number entry using appropriate function keys by calling up the desired numbers directly from the memory provided for this purpose. In this case, it is possible to call up numbers stored either on the SIM card or in the telephone memory.
In the event of an incoming or outgoing call the radio (A2) or the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) is muted. If the radio is muted, the logo "Phone" is shown in the radio display (A2) or in the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) and in the multifunction display (A1p13).
