- except CODE (273) Telephone preinstallation for portable CTEL (non-networked) VDA wiring
- except CODE (386) Preinstallation for "portable CTEL" UPCI telephone system
1 Connect coupling (11) of wiring harness for ICANI control unit (4) with plug (21) of adapter wiring harness, not VDA (5).
Component Identification:
2 Connect coupling for ICANI control unit (14) of wiring harness for ICANI control unit (4) to ICANI control unit (2).
3 Connect coupling for ICANI to FSE11 (20) of wiring harness for ICANI control unit (4) to interface FSE11 (3).
The ICANI coupling to FSE11 (20) is coded and only fits into one place.
4 Connect the coupling to interface FSE11 (15) of the adapter wiring harness, not VDA (5) to interface FSE11 (3).
5 Position coupling for hands-free system speaker (16) of adapter wiring harness, not VDA (5) as shown.
The coupling for the hands-free system (16) will be connected later when installing the covering under the instrument panel (right) with the hands-free system speaker plug
6 Fasten the adapter wiring harness, not VDA (5) together with the vehicle's on-board wiring harnesses so that they do not scuff or rattle.
7 Route wiring harness for ICANI control unit (4) into cable duct up to under the center console and fasten in place together with vehicle's on-board wiring harnesses so that they do not scuff or rattle.
8 Route wiring harness for ICANI control unit (4) into cable duct under the center console to the left and the ground (left front seat crossmember) (W18) and then fasten in place with the vehicle's on-board wiring harnesses so that they do not scuff or rattle.
9 Connect branch-off line for ground (left front seat crossmember) (W18) of the wiring harness for the ICANI control unit (4) to the ground (left front seat crossmember) (W18).
10 Connect multimeter to brown/red line (br/rt) of radio coupling (A2).
11 Detach voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/7) from cable duct, open and remove all 2-pin, black couplings with brown/red and brown lines.
12 Check continuity of each brown/red line of 2-pin, black couplings using a multimeter to the brown/red line of the radio coupling and connect the 2-pin, black coupling in which the brown/red line is connected to the brown/red line of the radio coupling with the radio plug CAN (10).
13 Install 2-pin, black couplings with brown/red and brown lines that are not connected to the brown/red line of the radio coupling to a socket in the voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/7).
14 Install the coupling for the voltage distributor CAN (9) of the wiring harness for the ICANI control unit (4) to a socket in the voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/7) and close the voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/7).
15 Remove green radio 'mute' plug distributor (X30/12) from cable duct and connect with green radio mute coupling (8) of wiring harness for ICANI control unit (4).
16 Insert radio 'mute' plug distributor (X30/12), voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/7) and wiring harness for ICANI control unit (4) into cable duct and fasten in place together with vehicle's on-board wiring harnesses so that they do not scuff or rattle.
17 Route voltage supply connection (40) of wiring harness for ICANI control unit from driver footwell to left fuse and relay box on the instrument panel along the vehicle's on-board wiring harnesses and connect the voltage supply connection (40) to socket 40 and then fasten in place together with vehicle's on-board wiring harnesses so that they do not scuff or rattle. Connect fuse carrier on socket 40 with 7.5 A fuse.
18 Route coupling for hands-free system microphone (18) of adapter wiring harness, not VDA (5) from front passenger footwell to right A-pillar along the vehicle's on-board wiring harnesses and fasten in place together with vehicle's on-board wiring harnesses so that they do not scuff or rattle.
19 Route coupling for hands-free system microphone (18) of adapter wiring harness, not VDA (5) from A-pillar upwards to the headliner and fasten in place using self-adhesive felt so that it does not scuff or rattle.
When routing at the right A-pillar ensure that the routing runs from the front check strap of the windowbag to the windshield, so that the windowbag function is not impaired.
20 Route coupling for hands-free system microphone (18) of adapter wiring harness, not VDA (5) behind headliner to inside rearview mirror.
21 Glue microphone (6) as shown using self-adhesive backing to mirror base and connect plug for hands-free system microphone (19) with coupling for hands-free system microphone (18).
Align microphone opening towards driver.
22 Install hands-free system speaker (7) at pre-stamped position on plastic bolt of covering under the instrument panel at the right and fasten in place using the toothed lock washers listed in the parts ordering notes table.
The coupling for the hands-free system is connected when installing the covering under the instrument panel at right with the hands-free system speaker plug of the adapter wiring harness, not VDA.
