GF82.60-P-2002QMA CD-Player Mode, Function
- with CODE (527) COMAND APS (with navigation)
The COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) is equipped with an integrated digital versatile disk (DVD) drive for loading navigation data and for playing audio CDs.
CD changer mode (with code (819) 6-disk CD changer)
The CD player with changer (in the glove compartment) (A2/6) is controlled by the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3). The control signals and the audio data from the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6) are transmitted by th Media Oriented System Transport (MOST).
Only audio CDs with the corresponding file format may be used as media in the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6).
The audio signals are amplified by an integral basic audio amplifier or the sound amplifier (A2/13) (with code (810) Sound system). The amplified signals are emitted via the vehicle's loudspeaker system. The signals between the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) and the sound amplifier (A2/13) are transmitted digitally over MOST.
If the vehicle is equipped with the sound amplifier (A2/13) (with code (810) Sound system), the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) must be coded accordingly using STAR DIAGNOSIS. Otherwise, faults occur with the reproduction of audio signals.
The COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) provides, in conjunction with the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6), the following functions:
^ "Scan" function
Either the tracks on a CD are played or the 1st track of each CD in the entire magazine is played for 8 seconds. After this has been run through completely, the scan function is automatically terminated.
^ "Random" function
All the titles on a CD or the entire CD magazine are played in accordance with the random principle.
^ "Repeat" function
Alternatively a title, a CD or the entire CD magazine is repeated.
^ Fast forward or reverse (music search)
The music played is audible during fast forward or reverse. Certain parts of a title can therefore be specifically played or skipped.
It is possible to load the navigation data first and then play an audio CD in navigation mode.
CD title allocation, function
Each CD contains a permanently stored table of contents (TOC entry). As a result, the COMAND operating, display and control unit (A40/3) clearly recognizes the particular CD, and is able to automatically name it after the one-time user allocation of the title (even if the CD is subsequently inserted in another CD magazine). The table of contents (TOC record) additionally contains information regarding the number of tracks on a CD and the CD's total playing time.
Playback of an audio CD in MP3 format
The designation "MP3" is an abbreviation for MPEG 1 Audio Layer 3 and describes an audio compression standard that permits digital music signals to be compressed to approx. 8% of the original data quantity. This takes place with almost no audible difference to the original signal (audio CD).
In the CD player with changer (in glove compartment) (A2/6), it is possible to play conventional audio CDs and also audio CDs in the MP3 format. A conventional audio CD is emulated (simulated).
