GF54.30-P-0002Q Instrument Cluster (IC), Function
GF54.30-P-0002Q Instrument Cluster (IC), Function
The instrument cluster (A1) serves the visual presentation of all dynamic and static vehicle conditions and the driver information on the systems fitted to the vehicle:
^ As display of the vehicle operating conditions, e. g. speed, tank fill level, coolant temperature and rpm
^ As a warning by warning lamps and indicator lamps for critical operating conditions
^ As a central display of various systems, e.g. audio and telephone
^ As a display for the Active Service System PLUS (ASSYST PLUS)
^ As trip computer (RRE)
To present these conditions the instrument cluster (A1) has the multifunction display (A1p13), various display instruments, warning lamps and indicator lamp and for the chimes has the warning buzzer (A1h1) as well as the audible turn signal indicator (A1h2). The instrument cluster (A1) produces various Control Area Network (data bus/CAN-Bus) (CAN) messages and places these on the Controller Area Network bus Class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C) or Controller Area Network bus Class B (interior) (CAN-B).
The required information, except the signal for the airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15), is passed on from various control units to the instrument cluster (A1) via CAN-C or CAN-B.
The signal for the airbag indicator and warning lamp (A1e15) is read via a discrete line.
A warning message is displayed via the instrument cluster (A1), if the remaining distance or remaining time up to the next service is fallen below. The driver is informed by the instrument cluster (A1) of an upcoming or already overdue service date, in the form of warning messages. Irrespective of this the vehicle user can have displayed in the service menu in certain operating conditions of the vehicle this and other information upon inquiry at the instrument cluster (A1).
The instrument cluster (A1) contains a microprocessor to process the incoming data.
The program and necessary data are stored in an electronic memory chip. With the multifunction steering wheel (MFL) various menu items CAN-Be actuated using the system selection button (S110s3) and the scroll forward/back button (S110s1).
Diagnosis takes place via STAR DIAGNOSIS.
