Component Identification:
Location
The ATA inclination sensor is located on the right C-pillar in the area of the backrest.
Task
Monitoring position change of vehicle.
Body
The ATA inclination sensor contains electrodes in an electrolyte (electrically conductive liquid).
Function
The electrodes in the ATA inclination sensor are immersed partially in an electrolyte (electrically conductive fluid).
Changes in the resistance between the electrodes alert the ATA inclination sensor to changes in the vehicle's inclination.
When the anti-theft alarm system (ATA) is activated, the value for the vehicle position is stored.
If the vehicle is moved when the ATA is activated, the ATA inclination sensor transmits a signal to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) which then triggers an alarm. An alarm is triggered under the following conditions:
^ Change in horizontal axis from +1° to -1°
^ If the vehicle is lifted (before a wheel looses contact to the ground).
Vehicle inclination below 0.5° does not trigger an alarm.
