Location
The TV tuner is located on the left sidewall behind the trim.

Task
The TV tuner is designed (equipped) for mobile television reception in various countries. It is fitted with a Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) interface and communicates via this optical data bus with other components.

Design
The TV tuner consists of the following components:
^ 4-fold antenna diversity, separated into video and audio signals
^ 3 reception modules for video/sound signals
^ Multinorm receiver
^ Multinorm signal processing
^ 4 antenna inputs
^ 2 audio/video (AV) inputs for external equipment (e.g. camcorder)

Function
The TV tuner is operated and controlled via the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3). It receives and processes analog television program transmissions in all standards. is also possible to receive digital television stations via an integrated Digital Video Broadcasting Terrestrial (DVB-T) receiver. The picture signal is sent over a separate video line to the COMAND operating, display and controller unit, the control signals are forwarded over MOST to the other system components. The television (TV) system operates with a total of 3 reception modules for video and audio signals, whereby 2 tuners are used for reception in the foreground and one tuner for background reception for creating list of stations).
In addition to their television program some stations offer a video text. To this end, the TV tuner is equipped with a separate video text decoder.
