Backup Lamp: Description and Operation
GF82.10-P-3011TM Backup Lamp Actuation, Function
Component Identification:
Function requirements
^ Circuit 15 ON
Function
On vehicles with transmission 716, the backup lamp switch is read in directly by the front passenger-side SAM control unit, which then transmits the "Reverse gear engaged" message over CAN-B to the central gateway control unit.
On vehicles with transmission 722.6, the electronic selector lever module control unit notifies the central gateway control unit over CAN-C that drive position "R" has been engaged.
On vehicles with transmission 722.9, the electronic selector lever module control unit sends the "R drive position" request to the control unit for the fully integrated transmission control unit, which - once it is engaged - forwards the "R drive position" message over CAN-C to the central gateway control unit.
The central gateway control unit transmits the "Reverse gear" or "R drive position engaged" message over CAN-B to the following control units:
^ Rear SAM control unit
^ Rear-end door control unit
^ Trailer connection unit [AAG] control unit
Actuation
With model 211.0, the backup lamps are actuated by the rear SAM control unit, with model 211.2 by the rear-end door control unit. For vehicles with code (550) Trailer hitch, the trailer connection unit [AAG] control unit actuates the AHV socket accordingly.
