Removal and Replacement



AR54.10-P-0005T Remove/Install Battery







DANGER:
- Risk of explosion from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries
- No fire, sparks, naked flames or smoking.
- Wear protective gloves, acid-resistant clothing and safety glasses. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.


1 Disconnect ground cable (2) of battery (G1)
2 Lift off cover (3) of positive terminal
3 Slacken nut (4) and disconnect positive lead (5) from battery (G1)
4 Detach vent hose (6)
5 Unscrew bolt (7) and take off bracket (8)
6 Detach retaining strap (9) and remove battery (G1) with supporting bracket from luggage compartment

NOTE: Ensure that battery (G1) is properly seated in spare wheel well.

7 Install in the reverse order
