Component Identification:






1 Route comfort telephony wiring harness (1) from E-net compensator (A28/3) along vehicle wiring harness into the top left corner of the trunk (arrow A).

The red line (rt) of the comfort telephony wiring harness (1) will be routed to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) at a later time.

2 Install brown line (br) of comfort telephony wiring harness (1) at left trunk ground point (W6).







3 Fix comfort telephony wiring harness (1) in place on body
4 Fix comfort telephony wiring harness (1) in place on vehicle using cable tie (11). wiring harness using cable tie.
5 Pull insulation mat (12) underneath the left head restraint to one side and take foam material (13) out of body opening.







6 Route comfort telephony wiring harness (1) through the body opening behind the foam material (13) into the passenger compartment.

The red line of the comfort telephony wiring harness (1) remains in the trunk. It will be routed to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module and connected at a later time.

7 Route comfort telephony wiring harness (1) along vehicle wiring harness into left rear footwell.
8 Install foam material (13) and align insulation mat (12).







9 Move seat frame of left individual rear seat (14) approx. 50 mm to the rear.

On vehicles with code (223) Rear bench seat with electrically adjustable outer seats with PRE-SAFE positioning function for outer seats and outer head restraints or model 221.1 with code (224) Design individual rear seat system.

10 Remove clips (15) for left rear floor covering (16).







11 Lift left rear floor covering (16) and insulation mat (12) in left rear footwell and take the foam material underneath out of the body opening.
12 Route comfort telephony wiring harness (1) through body opening.

Guide out again comfort telephony wiring harness (1) next to the cable duct of the frame floor system (arrow B).

13 Wrap felt tape (17) around comfort telephony wiring harness (1) starting at the body opening.

Felt tape may only be wrapped around the white/yellow line (ws/ge) as far as the white branch-off line (arrow C).







14 Lift left rear floor covering (16) and route comfort telephony wiring harness (1) to center console using a pull-through device (18).







15 Install foam material into body opening under left rear floor covering (16).
16 Alight left rear floor covering (16) and insulation mat (12).
17 Reinstall clips (15) at left rear floor covering (16).
18 Move seat frame of left individual rear seat (14) approx. 50 mm to the front.

On vehicles with code (223) Rear bench seat with electrically adjustable outer seats with PRE-SAFE positioning function for outer seats and outer head restraints or model 221.1 with code (224) Design individual rear seat system.







19.1 Route comfort telephony wiring harness (1) into stowage compartment of center console (19), as shown, using a pull-through device.

For vehicles without code (582) AC in rear.







19.2 Route comfort telephony wiring harness (1) into opening of center console (19), as shown, using a pull-through device.

For vehicles with code (582) Rear air conditioner.







20 Align center console (19) and screw down using screws/bolts (21).
21 Install covers (20) above the screws/ bolts (21) at the center console (19).
22 Move driver seat and front passenger seat to the rear.







23 Route pull-through device (18) from floor covering (arrow D) to center console (19).
24 Then route other end of pull-through device (18) from floor covering (arrow E) in direction of installation opening of COMAND controller unit.
25 Pull on both ends of pull-through device (18) so that pull-through device (18) slips under center console (19) in area of floor covering.







The pull-through device (18) must be positioned in the

26 Route white/yellow line (ws/ge) from center console into upper area of the center console (19). installation opening of COMAND controller unit using pull-through device (18).
27 Remove black 20-pin contact carrier (22.1) from black 20-pin coupling (22) of COMAND controller unit.
28 Install white/yellow line (ws/ge) in slot "19" of black 20-pin contact carrier (22.1).
29 Install black 20-pin contact carrier (22.1) in black 20-pin coupling (22).







30 Route red line (rt) along vehicle wiring harness to rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2), as shown.
31 Fix red line (rt) in place on vehicle wiring harness using cable tie.







32 Remove cover (23) in area of through-loading feature.

On vehicles with code (282) Ski bag (through-loading feature)

33 Disconnect black 14-pin coupling (24) from rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).

The black 14-pin coupling (24) is marked with the designation "I1" on the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).







34 Insert red line (rt) into slot "7" on black 14-pin coupling (24).
35 Connect black 14-pin coupling (24) to rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
36 Install cover in area of through-loading feature.
