GF54.65-P-3000SX Driving, Function
- with CODE (220) Parktronic system (PTS)

Component Identification:

Function requirements
^ Circuit 15 ON
^ Parking brake not operated

Function
When the ignition is switched on (circuit 15 ON), the PTS control unit performs a self-test. If there are no malfunctions or faults, the two yellow horizontal "stand-by bars" of the warning indicator in the multifunction display of the instrument cluster light up and both inner yellow LEDs in the rear warning indicator are at reduced brightness.

The PTS OFF switch in the cockpit switch group can be used to manually switch the Parktronic system (PTS) off or on. When the PTS is switched off the function LED in the PTS OFF switch lights up.
When the ignition is switched on (circuit 15 ON) the PTS is automatically activated, even if it was deactivated in the previous ignition sequence.

The brightness of the warning indicator in the multifunction display and in the rear warning indicator is automatically adapted to the outside light conditions.
If the rain/light sensor registers "Night" the warning indicator in the multifunction display and the rear warning indicator are actuated while dimmed.

In the case of an acoustic warning, the PTS control unit sends a command to the COMAND controller unit which mutes the connected audio components.

During driving the PTS switches between 40 km/h and 16 km/h into stand-by mode, i.e. the PTS control unit, warning indicator in the multifunction display, rear warning indicator and the PTS ultrasonic sensors are supplied with voltage, but they do not have any function.

Front monitoring active (drive position "D")
When the vehicle drops below the lower limit speed of 16 km/h, the PTS changes to measurement mode.
If an obstacle is detected in front of the vehicle this is initially notified to the driver optically by means of the corresponding segments in the warning indicator in the multifunction display lighting up. When the range drops below a distance of 30 cm, the warning for the driver also becomes acoustic, first with an intermittent tone and then with a continuous signal (see table below).
If a vehicle speed of 18 km/h is exceeded the PTS returns to the stand-by mode.

Front and rear monitoring ranges active (Drive position "R" or "N")
When the vehicle drops below the lower limit speed of 16 km/h, the PTS changes to measurement mode. If obstructions are detected in front of or behind the vehicle, the driver is alerted visually at first by the corresponding segments of the warning indicator in the multifunction display and the corresponding LEDs in the rear PTS warning indicator lighting up. When the range drops below a distance of 30 cm, the warning for the driver also becomes acoustic, first with an intermittent tone and then with a continuous signal (see table below).
If a vehicle speed of 18 km/h is exceeded the PTS returns to the stand-by mode.

On vehicles with code (550) Trailer hitch the area to the rear of the vehicle is not monitored when a trailer used.
