GF30.30-P-3301SX Component Description For The Radar Sensors Control Unit
- with CODE (233) Distronic Plus
- up to model year 08
Location
Component Identification:
The radar sensors control unit is located at the bottom right side of the luggage compartment.
Task
The tasks of the radar sensors control unit include controlling the following functions:
^ Variable Speed Limiter (except United States of America)
^ Permanent Speed Limiter
^ DISTRONIC PLUS
^ Distance warning system
^ BAS PLUS
^ PRE-SAFE brake (from 09/2006)
^ Park Assist
^ Park Guidance (from 12/2006)
^ Automatic deactivation of the radar sensor system (from 08/2007)
^ Blind spot assistant (from 08/2007)
The additional tasks of the radar sensors control unit are:
^ Actuation and evaluation of the front and rear short range sensors via two sensor CANs
^ Power supply for the rear PTS warning indicator (A44/3)
^ Data transmission from and to the rear PTS warning indicator
Design
Because of the high processing power required for these functions, the radar sensors control unit is equipped with two controllers each with a clock frequency of 40 MHz.
Function
The radar sensors control unit is the electronic analysis unit for the short range sensor system and the long range radar.
The radar sensors control unit also receives additional information (such as the speed of the driver's vehicle or the acceleration commanded by the driver) from other control units via the chassis CAN and the vehicle dynamics CAN.
Following analysis of all sensor data and input signals, the radar sensors control unit takes over full longitudinal control of the vehicle by sending signals via the vehicle CAN to the ESP control unit (N47-5) to accelerate, brake or shift gear.
Acoustic warning signals and displays are actuated in the instrument cluster (A1) and at the rear at the headliner by the radar sensors control unit. The displays for blind spot monitoring are also actuated in the outside mirrors.
