General
The warning threshold for the remaining time is used for stipulating the time, from which point the vehicle user is informed using an appropriate warning at the earliest before reaching the service date calculated by the service calculation. The remaining time warning threshold is primarily decisive for the service warning, if the remaining time reaches the service warning threshold before the remaining distance . The service calculation takes the engine speed as well as the frequency of cold starts and short-distance trips into account when calculating the next service. The remaining time warning threshold is stored in the central gateway control unit (N93) and can be parameterized using STAR DIAGNOSIS. The remaining distance is the basis for all calculations. Since there are service items that are only allocated to the remaining time, these service items have to be converted accordingly to a remaining distance.
A vehicle-specific average daily mileage is calculated as the basis for the conversion. ASSYST PLUS calculates all service items and recognizes, which type of service (e.g. remaining time or remaining distance) is to be output. The date is adapted in driving mode for every new day. This provides updated service interval end points for all service items.
Display of the remaining time
The remaining time "XXX" (in days) is basically not displayed until the average warning threshold calculated with the aid of the average daily mileage has been exceeded.
The remaining time is displayed in the multifunction display (A1p13):
- automatically, after reaching the warning threshold, after the circuit status "Circuit 15 ON" has been activated on the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73) or the engine has been started. The service symbol and the display "Service X in XXX days" appear for t = 10 s.
- automatically, after the remaining time has elapsed, after the circuit status "Circuit 15 ON" has been activated on the EIS [EZS] control unit or the engine has been started. The service symbol and the display "Perform Service X!" appear for t = 10 s. This display appears one day before and one day after the calculated service date.
- automatically, after the remaining time has elapsed, after the circuit status "Circuit 15 ON" has been activated on the EIS [EZS] control unit or the engine has been started. The service symbol and the display "Service X exceeded by XXX days" appear for t = 10 s. In addition, a warning tone is sounded.
If the Active Service System PLUS (ASSYST PLUS) is lacking measurement values due to sensor failure for example, it uses substitute values stored in the control units. An appropriate entry is made in the fault memory of the central gateway control unit.
