GF00.20-P-2008T Remaining Time, Function
- MODEL 221.0/ 2
General
The warning threshold for the remaining time is used for stipulating the time, from which point the vehicle user is informed using an appropriate warning at the earliest before reaching the service date calculated by the service calculation. The warning threshold for the remaining time is primarily decisive for the service warning in cases when the remaining time reaches the service warning threshold earlier than the remaining distance of the determinate reference variable. The service calculation takes this variable into account in the calculation of the determinate reference variable for the next service. The warning threshold for the remaining time is stored in the central gateway control unit (N93) and the parameters can be input via STAR DIAGNOSIS.
The remaining distance is the basis for all calculations. Service items, for which only one remaining time can be calculated are converted to one remaining distance with the assistance of the daily mileage. In each case, the value closer to the service date is decisive. The date is adapted in driving mode for every new day. This provides updated service interval end points for all activated service items.
Display of the remaining time
The remaining time is basically displayed only when the remaining time "X" (in days) of the average daily mileage is fulfilled and the warning threshold is exceeded.
Upon driver request, the display of the remaining time then takes place:
- Automatically, after reaching the warning threshold, after the electronic ignition switch control unit (N73) has been set to position "Circuit 15 ON" or the engine has been started: The service symbol and display "Service X in XXX days" appears for t = 10 s.
- Automatically, when the remaining time has expired after the EIS control unit (N73) is switched to the position "Circuit 15 ON" or while driving. The service symbol and display "Perform service X" appears for t = 10 s.This display appears 1 day before and 1 day after the calculated service date.
- Automatically, after the remaining time has expired, after the electronic ignition switch control unit (N73) has been set to position "Circuit 15 ON" or the engine has been started. The service symbol and display "Service X overdrawn by XXX days" appears for t = 10 s. In addition, a warning tone is output.
If readings are missing in the ASSYST system, e.g. due to failure of a sensor, it uses the substitute values stored in the control units. A corresponding entry is made in the fault memory of the central gateway control unit (N93).
