Location
The airbag unit is located beneath the instrument panel above the glove box.

Task
The front passenger is protected from injury in the event of a frontal impact by the airbag unit.

The airbag unit is designed with two stages thus enabling an adjustable deployment to be achieved. Triggering is conducted by the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) igniting the squibs.
