General
The function of the electrically adjustable steering column (EVL) realizes the following operation options:
^ Adjusting steering column
^ Easy entry/exit, steering column adjustment
^ Store/call up steering column position (with code (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors))
The adjustment of the steering column is realized by the steering column in/out motor (M20/1) and the steering column up/down motor (M20/2).
Function of adjust steering column
The steering column is manually adjustable at the steering column module in the longitudinal position and height
^ via the steering column adjustment switch (S59) (without code (443) steering wheel heater)
^ steering column adjustment/steering wheel heater switch (S59/1) (with code (443) Steering wheel heater) (N80).
Function of easy entry/exit, steering column adjustment
The function of the easy entry/exit, steering column adjustment can be switched on/off via the front central operating unit (A40/9). The menu-assisted display takes place in the COMAND display (A40/8). The function of easy entry/exit aid, steering column adjustment makes it easier to get into and out of the vehicle by adjusting the steering column in the uppermost position.
The driver seat is also moved into the rearmost position simultaneously.
Function of storing/calling up steering column position (with code (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors))
The adjusted position of the steering column can be stored via:
^ Memory 1 switch (S22s7)
^ Memory 2 switch (S22s8)
^ Memory 3 switch (S22s9)
in the left front seat operation switch group (S22).
The stored position of the steering column can be called up via the memory switch (S22s6) in the left front seat operation switch group (S22).
The position of the driver seat and outside mirrors is stored and called up simultaneously.
A Hall sensor is located in each steering column motor for position measurement and blocking detection.
The signals from the Hall sensors are read in by the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) and passed on for evaluation to the left front seat control unit (N32/1).
