AH32.22-P-1000-02SX Notes on AIRmatic

Component Identification:

Overview of AIRmatic suspension

Component Identification:

^ The components or the entire system must not be discharged by unscrewing pressure lines! Before removal, depressurize AIRmatic components (suspension struts, damping valve units, central reservoir) using STAR DIAGNOSIS.
^ Suspension struts (1) must not be twisted as this leads to fold formation in the air spring and thus to destruction of the suspension strut (1).
^ Dirty pressure line connections must be cleaned before unscrewing. Do not use any cleaning or solvent agent, as this can damage the pressure lines.
^ Seal pressure lines as well as connections on the components immediately with blind plugs.
^ Only use flare nut wrenches or special tools to unscrew the pressure lines.
^ Suspension struts (1) which have been removed or are not bolted on securely (1) must not be filled with compressed-air and must not be pushed together as this leads to the destruction of the suspension strut (1).
^ Observe the filling process when filling the suspension struts (1).
^ Between installing the suspension struts (1) and filling the system the suspension struts (1) must not be loaded (no spring movement).
^ Before driving onto washing installation, pits and lifting platforms or road surfaces with considerable unevenness "raised vehicle level" must be adjusted at the vehicle level button.
^ If the vehicle is to remain idle for a longer period, position the wheels straight ahead as any pressure loss in the system occurring leads to lowering of the vehicle and thus to the body bottoming on the wheels.
