GF27.50-P-2100G Planetary Gear Set Component Description

GF27.50-P-2100G Planetary gear set component description
- TRANSMISSION 722.6
- up to model year 08

Component Identification:

Location
3 planetary gear sets are used to achieve the individual transmission ratios. These are located in the mechanical part of the transmission 722.6 as a front, center and rear planetary gear set.

Task
The planetary gear sets serve power transmission and the formation of different ratios.

Design
A planetary gear set consists of the ring gear, the planetary gears supported on bearings in the planet carrier and the sun gear.

Component Identification:

Function
The elements ring gear and sun gear of a planetary gear set are alternately driven or stalled via the shift elements multi-disk clutch and multi-disk brake. Here the planetary gears can turn on the internal toothing of the ring gear and on the external toothing of the sun gear. This allows for a variety of gear ratios and the reversal of the rotation direction without the need for moving gear wheels or shift collars.

The torque and engine speed are converted according to the lever ratios or the ratio of the number of teeth on the driven gears to that on the drive gears, and is referred to as the gear ratio i. The overall ratio in the case of several planetary gear sets connected consecutively results from the multiplication of part ratios. If 2 components of the planetary gear set are rigidly connected to each other, then the planetary gear set is locked and turns as a closed assembly.

Advantages of a planetary gear set
^ Shifting ability under load
^ Several ratios can be produced
^ Constant meshing of the gears
^ Simple direction reversal
^ High efficiency
^ Coaxial location of input and output
^ Compact design

There are always the following gear ratio alternatives:
^ Sun gear locked
Internal gear driving
Planet carrier driven
Relatively low step-down ratio.

^ Internal gear locked
Sun gear driving
Planet carrier driven
Relatively high step-down ratio.

^ Locking two elements to each other so that the planetary gear set orbits as a complete unit and a direct power transmission results (i = 1).

^ Held planet carriers
Sun gear driving
Internal gear driven

Direction reversal and step-down ratio.
