Noises from the Transmission While Making "Direct Select" Gear Selections

In the above model vehicle when the gear position is changed with "Direct Select", the mechanical gear selection process in the ISM (Intelligent Selector Module) will produce an audible sound which can be heard within the passenger compartment (Netstar --> STAR TekInfo --> EDAC --> Direct select diagnostic guide --> Sounds ~ Hyperlink MP3 (click here for the sound of a normal ISM).

Do not attempt to perform any repairs to the vehicle, as this is a normal operating sound inherent to the design of the ISM.
