- except CODE (P99) Special model "AMG Black Series"
- on-board electrical system battery








Remove/Install

DANGER:
- Risk of explosion from gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury from caustic burns to eyes and skin from battery electrolyte or from handling damaged lead-acid batteries
- No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
- Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and eye protection. Pour battery electrolyte only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.


CAUTION:
- Always disconnect the ground cables (1) at both batteries.


NOTE: First at the on-board electrical system battery (G1) in the trunk then at the starter battery in the engine compartment.

1 Set TELE AID emergency call system to service mode

NOTE: Vehicles with CODE (855) TELE AID This prevents the additional battery from discharging and an emergency signal is not sent, see owner's manual.

2.1 Switch off ignition, remove key from electronic ignition/starter switch EIS.
2.2 Switch off engine, remove Keyless Go card from vehicle.

NOTE: For vehicles with CODE (889) Keyless Go Keep Keyless Go card out of transmitter range.

3 Unhook trunk separator.
4 Remove floor covering in trunk.
5 Remove bracket (5)
6 Loosen nut and disconnect ground lead (1) from on-board electrical system battery (G1)
7 Remove positive terminal cover (3) upwards
8 Loosen nut and disconnect positive cable (2) from on-board electrical system battery
9 Remove on-board electrical system battery (G1).
- Use carrying bracket. When replacing the on-board electrical system battery, remove ventilation reservoir.

NOTE: Installation: install on-board electrical system battery (G1) and push against support (4).

10 Install in the reverse order

CAUTION: All electric consumers must be switched off. Connect positive cable (2) first then ground cable (1).

11 Activate steering angle sensor
12 Calibrate power windows

13 Normalize seats

NOTE: See owner's manual.

14 Set time for electronic clock.

NOTE: See owner's manual.

15 Set clock of stationary heater.

NOTE: For vehicles with CODE (855) stationary heater, See owner's manual.

16 Read out fault memory
17 Download basic data from STAR DIAGNOSIS.
