GF83.40-P-2181-01SK Control And Operating Unit Comfort Automatic Air Conditioning, Task
- with CODE (581) Comfort automatic air conditioning
Component Identification:
Task
The comfort AAC control and operating module (N22/7) actuates all air conditioning functions for the vehicle interior.
The comfort AAC control and operating unit (N22/7) in the center console provides the following controls:
^ Separate warm/cold interior temperature selection for left and right
^ Switching the air conditioning system on and off
^ Manual blower control
^ Manual air distribution
^ Automatic blower control and air distribution
^ Air recirculation mode
^ Activation of residual engine heat utilization with ignition switched off
^ Windshield defrost function
^ Rear window heater
The comfort AAC control and operating module (N22/7) performs the following actuations:
^ Directly: the duovalve
^ Via the AC bus: the blower regulator, the fresh air and recirculated air flap actuator motor, the left and right footwell flaps actuator motor, the left and right defroster flaps actuator motor and the fresh air flaps actuator motor
The following sensor signals are received by the convenience AAC pushbutton control unit (N22/7):
^ Direct: the left heat exchanger temperature sensor, the right heat exchanger temperature sensor, the evaporator temperature sensor, the in-car temperature sensor (N22/7b1) and the sun sensor
^ Via the AC bus: the C-AAC multifunction sensor
Illustration of individual operating facilities
Blower regulation switch (1) and automatic regulation switch (2)
The blower capacity and air distribution can be manually or automatically adjusted using the blower regulator switch (1) and the automatic regulation switch (2):
^ Manually by rotating the blower control switch (1) around the automatic control switch (2). The setting is displayed via the respective LED ring
^ Automatically by pressing the automatic control switch (2). The setting is indicated by the function LED.
Defrost button (3)
The temperature is set to "maximum" and the air flow is distributed to defroster and lateral nozzles. All the other flaps are closed. The blower voltage is controlled depending on the coolant temperature.
Left (4) and right (7) temperature rockers
The target temperature for the driver and front passenger sides can be separately adjusted using the left (4) and right (7) temperature rockers. The temperature is shown on the display (5).
Display (5)
The temperature appears on the display (5) in either °C or °F depending on the instrument cluster setting.
In (United States of America) vehicles, "MAX COOL" appears in the display at maximum cooling power (adjustable via diagnosis).
On/off button (6)
The comfort automatic air conditioning can be switched off altogether or switched on again by pressing the on/off button (6). The main air flap is closed or opened accordingly.
Residual heat button (8)
Heating or ventilation can be provided for up to 30 minutes by pressing the residual heat button (8). The function is only possible with circuit 15 off or circuit 15C on. If there is low voltage, the residual heat function is automatically switched off. The flaps are in automatic mode.
Air distribution switch (9)
The air distribution in the interior can be manually adjusted by rotating the air distribution switch (9).
AC button (10)
The refrigerant compressor is switched off by pressing the AC button (10). All other functions are retained.
Display logic of function LED in AC button (10)
In vehicles up to 31.5.05, the function LED is off if the refrigerant compressor is on.
In vehicles from 1.6.05, the function LED is on if the refrigerant compressor is on.
No emission-controlled recirculated air function takes place if the refrigerant compressor is switched off.
Heated rear window switch (N22/7s1)
When the button is pressed, the comfort AAC control and operating unit (N22/7) transmits a switch-on request to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module via the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B). The function LED is switched on at the same time.
Air recirculation switch (N22/7s2)
Briefly pressing the air recirculation switch (N22/7s2) for less than 1.5 seconds causes the main air flap to be closed to prevent air from entering from outside. The function LED is illuminated during operation. The function is deactivated if the Vario roof is open. Pressing the switch for longer activates the power window comfort opening/closing facility.
