Task

^ Provision of the weight classification and seat occupation recognition information on the Controller Area Network bus Class B (interior) (CAN-B)

After recognizing that the front passenger seat is occupied, the Weight Sensing System (WSS) control unit (N110) uses the detected data from the pressure sensor (B48/4) and from the belt tension sensor (B48/3) to perform a weight classification for the person, object or child seat.

The data for the weight classification are made available over CAN-B to the restraint systems control unit (N2/7) for precise control of the front passenger airbag unit.
