GF83.40-P-2180-01SK Automatic Air Conditioning Control And Operating Unit, Task
- with CODE (580) Automatic air conditioning
Component Identification:
Task
The AAC control and operating module (N22) actuates all air conditioning functions for the vehicle interior.
The AAC control and operating unit (N22) is used to control the following:
^ Separate cold/warm interior temperature selection for driver and front passenger sides
^ Switching the air conditioning system on and off
^ Manual blower control
^ Manual air distribution
^ Air recirculation mode
^ Activation of residual engine heat utilization with ignition switched off
^ Windshield defrost function
^ Rear window heater
The AAC control and operating unit (N22) is used to actuate the following:
^ Directly: the duovalve
^ Via the AC bus: the blower regulator, the fresh air and recirculated air flaps actuator motor, the left and right footwell flaps actuator motor and the left and right defroster flaps actuator motor
The following sensor signals are read in by the AAC pushbutton control unit (N22):
^ Directly: the left heat exchanger temperature sensor, the right heat exchanger temperature sensor and the evaporator temperature sensor
^ Via the AC BUS: the dew point sensor
Illustration of individual operating facilities
Temperature selector wheel, left (1) and right (4)
The interior temperature can be manually adjusted and displayed for the driver and front passenger using the left temperature selector wheel (1) and the right temperature selector wheel (4) :
^ By rotating the left temperature selector wheel (1) around the air recirculation switch (N22s2) for the driver side
^ By rotating the right temperature selector wheel (4) around the heated rear window switch (N22s1) for the front passenger side
^ The temperature is displayed via the respective LED ring
Blower control switch (2) and air distribution switch (3)
The blower control switch (2) and the air distribution switch (3) are used for manual selection and display of the air distribution and blower capacity:
^ By rotating the blower control switch (2) around the AC button/REST button (5)
^ By rotating the air distribution switch (3) around the defrost button (6)
^ The temperature is displayed via the respective LED ring
AC button/REST button (5)
By pressing the AC button/REST button (5), the refrigerant compressor is manually switched off and consequently cooling mode is switched off.
If the engine is switched off, the residual engine heat can be used to heat or ventilate for an additional 30 minutes by pressing the AC button/REST button (5). The function is only available if the ignition is switched off or if the transmitter key (circuit 15C) has been inserted. The residual engine heat utilization system is switched off automatically in the event of undervoltage.
Display logic of function LED in AC button/REST button (5)
In vehicles up to 31.5.05, the function LED is off if the refrigerant compressor is on.
In vehicles from 1.6.05, the function LED is on if the refrigerant compressor is on.
Defrost button (6)
Pressing the defrost button (6) sets the temperature to "maximum" and distributes the air flow to the defrosting and lateral nozzles. All the other flaps are closed. The blower voltage is controlled depending on the coolant temperature.
Heated rear window switch (N22s1)
When the heated rear window switch (N22s1) is pressed, the AAC control and operating unit (N22) transmits a switch-on request to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module via the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B), which switches on the heated rear window. The function LED is switched on at the same time.
Air recirculation switch (N22s2)
Briefly pressing the air recirculation switch (N22s2) for less than 1.5 seconds causes the main air flap to be closed to prevent air from entering from outside. The function LED is illuminated during operation. The function is deactivated if the Vario roof is open. Pressing the switch for longer activates the power window comfort opening/closing facility.
