GF82.60-P-2000CWC Audio Functions

GF82.60-P-2000CWC Audio Functions
- with CODE (525) MB Audio 50 APS radio

Function requirements
^ Status "circuit 30 ON" or "circuit 15R ON"
^ Auto pilot system (APS) is authorized and operating free of faults
^ No fault in antenna system (radio function)
^ Data DVD/CD inserted

General
The following audio functions can be selected using the 'Audio' menu item
^ Radio (AM/FM)
^ Audio DVD/CD and MP3 (on DVD/CD)
^ Digital Audio Broadcasting (Digital Radio) (DAB)

Operating instructions
The audio functions can be controlled, or selected and set, using the following components:
^ Left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110)
^ Group of buttons on right of multifunction steering wheel (S111)
^ Audio/COMAND control panel (A40/9)
^ Control panel on the radio with auto pilot system (A2/56)

With "Circuit 15R OFF", switching on the radio with auto pilot system activates the subscribers of the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST).

General information on radio mode (AM/FM)
The radio mode function sequence consists of the following subfunctions:
^ AM tuner (MW, LW, SW)
^ Traffic Announcement (TA), evaluation of traffic information radio channel over Traffic Message Channel (TMC) for dynamic destination-oriented navigation system if navigation is being used
^ FM dual tuner with phase diversity
^ Radio data system (RDS)

Radio mode function sequence (AM/FM)
The antennas in the rear window receive high frequency (HF) signals for ultra-short wave (FM) and medium wave (MW). Modulated onto these HF signals are music, voice or data signals. These HF signals also carry TA and TMC signals for evaluating the traffic information radio channel.

The high frequency signals are transmitted via discrete lines to the FM, AM and CL [ZV] antenna amplifier (A2/18) (model 204.0) or rear window antenna amplifier 1 (A2/71) (model 204.2) as well as to the rear window antenna FM antenna amplifier (A2/19). The FM, AM and CL [ZV] antenna amplifier (model 204.0) or rear window antenna amplifier 1 (model 204.2) as well as the rear window antenna FM antenna amplifier filter the frequencies of the radio frequency bands from the received high frequency signals and amplify them. The amplified signals are then transmitted over the coaxial lines (FM, AM) to the integrated radio tuners of the radio with auto pilot system. The radio tuners demodulate the HF signals, in other words they separate the useful information (audible frequencies) from the carrier signal (inaudible). In vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the demodulated audio signals are routed and finally amplified by the radio with auto pilot system over MOST to the sound system amplifier control unit (N40/3).

Audio output (AM/FM)
The audio output then takes place over discrete lines by the following speakers:
^ Left front door speaker (H4/1)
^ Right front door speaker (H4/2)
^ Left rear door speaker (H4/3)
^ Right rear door speaker (H4/4)
^ Center instrument panel speaker (H4/27)
^ Bass speaker (H4/29)
^ Left rear surround speaker (H4/54)
^ Right rear surround speaker (H4/57)

In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the audio output takes place over discrete lines by the radio with auto pilot system over the following speakers:
^ Left front door speaker
^ Right front door speaker
^ Left rear door speaker
^ Right rear door speaker
^ Center instrument panel speaker

General information on radio data system (RDS)
Apart from the normal radio program, many radio stations (FM) transmit additional digital information such as station names, program type (PTY) (e.g. pop, culture, etc.) and traffic program identification. This information is evaluated by the radio with auto pilot system and shown on the audio/ COMAND display (A40/8) if the following prerequisites are met:
^ An RDS station is tuned.
^ The "RDS" function is activated.

Function sequence for DVD/CD audio
Integrated into the radio with auto pilot system is a DVD drive. This enables audio CDs and audio DVDs to be played (even MP3 format). User guidance for controlling DVD/CD functionality and displaying supplemental information is carried out via the audio/ COMAND display.

In vehicles with code (810) Sound system, the data is exchanged between the radio with auto pilot system and the sound system amplifier control unit over MOST. The audio output takes place over the following speakers:
^ Left front door speaker
^ Right front door speaker
^ Left rear door speaker
^ Right rear door speaker
^ Center instrument panel speaker
^ Bass speaker
^ Left rear surround speaker
^ Right rear surround speaker

In vehicles except code (810) Sound system, the audio output takes place over discrete lines by the radio with auto pilot system itself over the following speakers:
^ Left front door speaker
^ Right front door speaker
^ Left rear door speaker
^ Right rear door speaker
^ Center instrument panel speaker
