GF88.79-P-2006CW Passenger-side Outside Mirror Park Position, Function
- with CODE (275) Memory package (driver seat, steering column, mirrors)
- except CODE (494) USA version
- up to model year 08
Function sequence for passenger-side outside mirror park position, general
The passenger-side outside mirror park position includes a number of partial functions. These are:
^ Move to park position
^ Storing park position
Move to park position
Function requirements
^ Circuit 15 ON
^ No overvoltage/undervoltage
^ Right outside mirror adjustment switch (S20s11) selected
^ Position measurement supplies valid readings
Function sequence for moving to parking position
When the transmission is shifted into reverse gear for t > 0.6 s, the right mirror lens is moved to the park position by the right front door control unit (N69/2) via the vertical inclination adjustment actuator motor (M21/2m1) and the horizontal inclination adjustment actuator motor (M21/2m2).
Read in status for reverse gear
For transmission 711 or 716:
The backup lamp switch (S16/2) is directly read in by the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1). It then transmits the status to the right front door control unit via interior CAN.
For transmission 722:
The electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) relays the status to the CDI control unit (N3/9) (on diesel engine) or ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) (on gasoline engines) via the drive train CAN. It routes the signal via the chassis CAN to the front SAM control unit, which then transmits the status to the right front door control unit via the interior CAN.
The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) transmits the current circuit status via interior CAN and chassis CAN.
Aborting the function
The right outside mirror is automatically returned to the original position, when:
^ another drive position is engaged and a time of approx. t = 10 s has elapsed or
^ the vehicle speed is v > 10 km/h or
^ the left outside mirror adjustment switch (S20s10) is actuated or
^ Circuit 15 is Off.
It is also then returned to the original position if the right outside mirror is adjusted manually in the park position.
If circuit 15 is recognized when the reverse gear is engaged, the mirror is moved to the park position last adjusted after t = 0.6 s.
Manual adjustment of the right outside mirror in the park position is stored as new park position.
Storing park position
Function requirements
^ Circuit 15 ON
^ Reverse gear engaged
Function sequence for storing park position
First adjust desired park position of the right outside mirror manually via the outside mirror adjustment switch.
The park position is stored by the left front seat adjustment switch group (S22). When the left front memory function switch (S22s6) is pressed momentarily and the right outside mirror adjustment switch is then actuated in any direction within t = 3s, the momentary outside mirror position is stored as park position. The park position is stored in the driver seat control unit (N32/1).
