In order to limit maximum vehicle speed on vehicles with a corresponding engine power output, the opening angle of the throttle valve is reduced and the fuel injection quantity is reduced accordingly once a speed of 250 km/h is reached. The ignition angle is also adjusted to "Late".

These measures ensure simple maximum speed limitation by reduction of the torque.
