Function requirements, general
- Circuit 15R On or
- Run-on active

The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of circuit 15 via interior CAN to the rear SAM control unit.

Run-on:
If circuit 15R was switched off, the electrical seat adjustment (ESA [ESE]) can still be operated for t = 3 min. If a change in the circuit status or in the door status occurs during the run-on time, the run-on function begins anew.
The door status is sensed by the left front door lock and right front door lock. The corresponding status is read in by the left front door control unit or right front door control unit, which transmits the status via interior CAN to the rear SAM control unit.

Electrical seat adjustment (ESA [ESE]), general
The ESA [ESE] enables the electrical adjustment of the driver and front passenger seat. The driver and front passenger seat can be adjusted as follows:
- Seat height
- Backrest angle

Also with code (494) USA version:
- Seat fore/aft position
- Seat inclination

The ESA [ESE] comprises the following partial functions:
- Function sequence for driver seat adjustment
- Function sequence for front passenger seat adjustment
- Function sequence for antilock device

Function sequence for driver seat adjustment
For the seat adjustment of the driver seat, the corresponding position in the driver seat partially electric seat adjustment switch must be pressed and held, which directly actuates the corresponding set adjustment motor directly:
- Driver seat height adjustment motor
- Driver seat backrest inclination adjustment motor

Also with code (494) USA version:
- Driver seat fore/aft adjustment motor
- Driver seat inclination adjustment motor

Function sequence for front passenger seat adjustment
For the seat adjustment of the front passenger seat, the corresponding position in the front passenger seat partially electric seat adjustment switch must be pressed and held, which directly actuates the corresponding set adjustment motor directly:
- Front passenger seat height adjustment motor
- Front passenger seat backrest inclination adjustment motor

Also with code (494) USA version:
- Front passenger seat fore/aft adjustment motor
- Front passenger seat inclination adjustment motor

The power supply for the seat adjustment motors is supplied by the rear SAM control unit directly via the respective seat adjustment switch.

Function sequence for antilock device
Anti-lock protection is provided by a thermal fuse in the set adjustment motors. As a result, if the seat adjustment motor is blocked, it is not switched off until exceeds a certain temperature threshold.
