If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the COMAND head unit turning ON by itself without user interaction, this may occur even when the vehicle is OFF, locked and the system runs normally, or the head unit intermittently resets (turns OFF and back ON / resetting) after inserting audio CDs, this may be due to a software error in the COMAND head unit. To remedy, update the COMAND and Telematics System as instructed using DAS 11/08 or later and SD Telematics CD A204 827 60 59 ES2: 0001 (or later) by following the procedure below:
1. Turn electrical consumers OFF and connect a battery charger:
2. Start DAS --> Proceed to Menu: Control units --> information and communication....--> COMAND APS control unit adaptations control unit programming
3. Follow the DAS prompts, you will be prompted to insert the SD Telematics CD into the head unit CD player.
4. Wait until the CD is recognized, the software process should start a few minutes after. Please wait until DAS completes the software update process of the all of the Telematics Components when applicable.
5. When the update process is complete, restart the Optical Ring.
6. Go back to menu: control unit adaptations Variant coding and perform on-line SCN coding (to ensure all of the telematics components are present on the MOST/CAN Bus)
7. The COMAND's Software version after the update is 28/08.
