Backup Lamp: Description and Operation

GF82.10-P-3011CW Backup Lamp Actuation, Function

Function requirements:
^ Circuit 15 On

Backup lamp actuation function sequence
For transmission 722:

The electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) reads in the current selector lever position and transmits it to the ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (with gasoline engine) or to the CDI control unit (N3/9) (with diesel engine) via drive train CAN. These route the information to the chassis CAN, where it is read in by the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).

To avoid any brief lighting up when the selector lever is shifted from position P to D via R, the request is sent by the front SAM control unit with a delay of t = 500 ms.

For transmission 711 or 716
Engaging the reverse gear is recognized by the backup lamp switch (S16/2). This signal is read in directly by the front SAM control unit.

The front SAM control unit transmits the backup lamp request via interior CAN to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and to the trailer recognition control unit (N28/1) (with code (550) Trailer hitch).
The rear SAM control unit actuates the left backup lamp (E3e3) and the right backup lamp (E4e3).

The trailer recognition control unit actuates the backup lamp on the trailer via the trailer socket (X58) (with code (550) Trailer hitch).
