GF82.70-P-2009SXX Phone Call Acceptance, Function
- with CODE (389) Mobile phone preinstallation with universal interface, USA/Canada

If the portable CTEL (A34/6) receives a call signal via the frequency switchover control unit (N96) and the UPCI [UHI] portable CTEL holder (Universal Handy Interface) (A34/15) with model 221 from the telephone and GPS roof antenna (A2/49) or with model 216 from the telephone and GPS antenna (A2/49), the caller is displayed on the portable CTEL display. This information is also transmitted to the Universal Portable CTEL Interface (UPCI [UHI]) control unit (N123/1). The Universal Portable CTEL Interface (UPCI [UHI]) control unit relays the call signal via the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST) to the COMAND controller unit (A40/3).
The COMAND controller unit receives the ringing tone, converts the signal into an audio signal and sends it to the audio speaker system.

The volume of an active audio source is reduced by 15 dB. When the call is accepted, an active audio source is muted, and the caller ID appears in the portable CTEL display, in the COMAND display (A40/8) and the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1).

The user has the following options for accepting a telephone call:
^ Hands-free mode
^ Private mode

Hands-free mode
In hands-free mode, the user has the following options for accepting a call:
^ By pressing the "Accept call" button on the respective portable CTEL.
^ By pressing the accept/terminate phone call button (S111s3) in the right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111) on the multifunction steering wheel (MFL)
^ By pressing the "accept telephone call" button on the center console button group (S148)
^ By selecting the relevant option in the "TEL" menu item via the telephone/navigation quick select button (A40/9s5) and the front central operating unit (A40/9)

Voice input takes place via the 2 microphones integrated in the hands-free system microphone group (A67b1). Voice output takes place via the audio speaker system installed in the vehicle.

Private mode
In "private mode", the user conducts a telephone conversation without other vehicle occupants being able to hear the telephone conversation. "Private mode" is only possible with a Bluetooth headset and is activated by operating a switch on the Bluetooth headset. The telephone call is terminated by operating the switch on the Bluetooth headset again. You can switch between private mode and hands-free mode by operating the switch on the Bluetooth headset twice (within 3 s).
