Component Identification:

1 Detach insulation material (13) on outside of glove box (14) and fold up.
2 Open glove box lid, make a mark on glove box (14) as illustrated and drill hole with a diameter of 20 mm.

Dimension:
A = 20 mm (distance between hole and reference edge (arrow B)). Top edge of glove box lamp (E13/1) is used as a horizontal reference edge.

3 Lead black iPod wiring harness coupling on iPod wiring harness (8) from the inside through previously drilled hole in glove box (14) to the outside and plug hole with grommet (12).

The black iPod wiring harness coupling is connected during the installation of the iPod interface.

4 Fold back insulation material on outside of glove box (14).

Component Identification:

5 Set down iPod interface wiring harness (2) in installation opening of COMAND controller unit.
6 Expose both fiber optic cables on vehicle wiring harness (arrow C).
7 Remove fiber optic cable coupling (15) from black 20-pin coupling (3) and install at same position in black 20-pin coupling (5) of wiring harness for iPod interface (2).
8 Fix both fiber optic cables in place approx. 50 mm behind fiber optic cable coupling (15) on iPod interface wiring harness (2) (arrow D) using insulation tape.
9 Assemble black 20-pin coupling (3) and black 20-pin connector (4), then wind felt tape around everything and stow below installation frame (16) of COMAND controller unit.
10 Route black 18-pin coupling (6) and white 2-pin connector (7) along iPod interface wiring harness (2), as illustrated, into front passenger footwell.

The black 18-pin coupling (6) and the white 2-pin connector (7) will not be connected until the iPod interface is installed.
