GF40.15-P-0001-04SX Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM), Messages Relevant to the Function

GF40.15-P-0001-04SX Tire pressure monitor (TPM), messages relevant to the function
- with CODE (475) Tire pressure monitor (siemens) [model 216.3, 221.1]
- with CODE (470) Tire pressure monitor (base) [model 216.3, 221.1]
- with CODE (494) USA version [model 216.3]

Messages relevant to the function in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1) display to the driver the status of the tire pressure monitor (TPM).

Messages relevant to the function:
^ System fault(s)
^ System messages

System error message shown on model 221 up to 31.8.06
The tire pressure monitor is not available due to a fault.

System faults are stored in the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88) with a fault code and system messages with an event code.

System messages describe a regular operating condition. In the event of a complaint there is no need to exchange system components.

The following system faults can exist:
^ Faults in Controller Area Network (data bus/CAN Bus) (CAN) data bus
^ Failure of system component, e.g. TPM [RDK] control unit defective
^ At least one wheel fitted without a TPM wheel sensor
^ The instrument cluster does not receive any CAN messages from the TPM [RDK] control unit (e.g. cable open-circuit or interrupted connector with "terminal 15 ON"

A corresponding fault code is stored in the TPM [RDK] control unit.

System message (request for system activation) shown on model 221 up to 31.8.06 with code (476) Tire pressure monitor (Siemens)
This system message is shown when:
^ The TPM [RDK] control unit has been exchanged
^ A red message, relevant to operation, was displayed during previous driving

System message (information message) shown on model 221 up to 31.8.06
This system message appears after the TPM system is activated. Activation is necessary in the event of changes to tire inflation pressure, a tire replacement or wheel exchange.

Activation is possible with "terminal 15 ON" or with "terminal 61 ON".

This system message is activated for the following criteria:
^ New TPM wheel sensor has been fitted and is currently being taught in
^ Obstruction to data transfer by an external interference transmitter
^ Temperature of a TPM wheel sensor above 120 degrees C
^ Transporting an additional TPM wheel sensor in the vehicle (e.g. winter wheel/wheels in the luggage compartment)

System message (information message shown on model 221 up to 31.8.06
After activation the pressure values are only displayed if a clear assignment has been detected by the TPM system. Until the teach-in process has finished (total driving time approx. 10 minutes) the adjacent information message is displayed instead of pressure values.

System message (information message) shown on model 221 up to 31.8.06
The current pressure values are only displayed with "terminal 15 ON".

System message (information message) shown on model 221 up to 31.8.06
The TPM system is switched off by means of STAR DIAGNOSIS.

System message (information message) shown on model 221 up to 31.8.06
The TPM system is operating in diagnosis mode.

Complete and correct tire pressure monitoring is not guaranteed.
