GF27.51-P-2010G Multi-Disk Clutch Component Description
GF27.51-P-2010G Multi-disk clutch component description
- TRANSMISSION 722.6
- up to model year 08
Location
With the planetary gear sets, 3 multi-disk clutches as multi-disk clutch K1, multi-disk clutch K2 and multi-disk clutch K3 are located in the transmission housing.
Task
To transmit the drive torque the multi-disk clutches produce a positive connection between 2 elements of a planetary gear set or between one element each of 2 planetary gear sets.
Design
A multi-disk clutch consists of several internally toothed plates on an internal plate carrier and externally toothed plates on an external plate carrier.
Function
Multi-disk clutch K1
If oil pressure is applied to the piston at the multi-disk clutch K1, then this presses together the inner and outer externally toothed plates of the clutch pack
The front sun gear is connected to the front planet carrier via the external plate carrier and the internal plate carrier. Consequently the front planetary gear set is locked and turns as a closed assembly.
Multi-disk clutch K2
If the multi-disk clutch K2 is engaged via the piston, then this presses the clutch pack together. The front ring gear of the front planetary gear set is connected to the center ring gear of the center planetary gear set via the external plate carrier and center planet carrier on which the internally toothed plates are seated. The front ring gear and center ring gear move at the same rotational speed as the drive shaft.
Multi-disk clutch K3
If the multi-disk clutch K3 is engaged via the piston, then this presses the clutch pack together. The center sun gear of the center planetary gear set is connected to the rear sun gear of the rear planetary gear set via the external plate carrier and internal plate carrier. The center sun gear and rear sun gear move at the same rotational speed.
