GF27.60-P-2000SXA Gear shift, function
- Transmission 722.6
The electrohydraulic controller unit converts the electrical signals coming from the electronic transmission control (EGS) into hydraulic signals Faults occurring in the (EGS) electronic transmission control are covered by the limp-home mode. The limp-home strategy is designed so that the driver can still reach a Mercedes-Benz service operation under extreme conditions.
The gear selector switch positions "P", "R", "N" and "D" are transferred by the steering column module (N80) to the chassis CAN. The ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) conveys the information on the drive train CAN. The ETC [EGS] control unit (N15/3) passes on the gear selector switch positions to the intelligent servo module for DIRECT SELECT (A80) taking into account further information.
Transmission mode "C" or "S"
On model 221.176 and on model 216.376 the shift range in gear selector switch position "D" can be limited via the left steering wheel gear shifter (S110/2) and right steering wheel gear shifter (S111/2).
On model 221.179 the shift range in gear selector switch position "D" can be limited via the steering wheel gear shifter MINUS (S110/1) and the steering wheel gear shifter PLUS (S111/1). The shift range up to which an upshift of the transmission 722.6 is possible is displayed in the instrument cluster (A1).
Program selection "M"
Program selection "M" is only possible in gear selector switch position "D". On model 221.176 and on model 216.376 the 5 forward gears of transmission 722.6 in the process can be shifted directly via the left steering wheel gear shifter and right steering wheel gear shifter.
On model 221.179 the 5 forward gears of the transmission 722.6 can be shifted directly via the steering wheel gear shifter MINUS and steering wheel gear shifter.
The shifted gear is displayed in the instrument cluster (A1). When the DIRECT SELECT gear selector switch (S16/13) is switched out of the gear selector switch position "D" the system automatically changes into sport program "S".
Shift processes at unacceptably high or low engine speed are not carried out. In addition a forced downshift occurs at excessively low rpm and a forced upshift occurs at an excessively high rpm. When the vehicle is stationary the transmission automatically shifts into 1st gear. It is possible to start off both in 1st or 2nd gear.
