It hydraulically controls the torque converter lockup clutch and distributes the lubricating oil.

Function
The torque converter lockup clutch regulating valve regulates the working pressure of the torque converter lockup clutch depending on the torque converter lock-up clutch control pressure.

Depending on the level of the working pressure for the torque converter lockup clutch, the torque converter lockup clutch is engaged, disengaged or in slip mode.

In the lower position of the torque converter lockup clutch regulating valve, lubricating oil flows through the torque converter and oil cooler into the transmission 722.6 (torque converter lockup clutch unpressurized).

In its regulating position (slip mode, torque converter lockup clutch pressurized) a reduced quantity of lubricating oil flows through the annular gap bypassing the converter straight through the oil cooler into the transmission 722.6. The rest of the lubricating oil is directed via the throttle into the torque converter to cool the torque converter lockup clutch.
