GF82.61-P-0002E Audio 30 APS, Function
- with CODE (353) Audio 30 APS

Component Identification:

the following components are integrated in the audio 30 APS system:
^ DVD drive for navigation and playing audio CDs
^ Navigation processor including global positioning system (GPS), receiver and yaw rate sensor (is needed with direction change while cornering and to calculate interlinked satellite navigation)
^ Radio with 2 tuner technology
^ Quadruple power amplifier for vehicle loudspeakers
^ Voice output chip set
^ Monochromous liquid crystal display

The radio (A2) offers the following:
^ Radio
^ Traffic station decoder and traffic data recorder
^ Navigation system with integral reception unit to find the GPS satellites (tracking and evaluation of up to 8 satellites is possible)
^ Combined CD player for audio and navigation (loading and saving map data in the RAM memory)
^ Audio signal processing and amplification with control of optional devices, e.g., amplifier for sound system and CD changer
^ Digital data bus (D2B) and CAN data bus interface
^ D2B Diagnostic interface via K line

System interlinkage
or the data exchange with external, digital components, the radio (A2) is connected to the instrument cluster (A1) via CAN interior (CAN-B).

The CAN interior (CAN-B) makes the following functions possible:
^ Operating the radio (A2) is also possible via the multifunction steering wheel.
^ The multifunction display (A1p13) in the instrument cluster (A1) can display navigation notes and information about the current operating condition of the radio (A2).

Digital Data Bus (D2B)
Data can be exchanged between external audio components, the telephone system and, if present, the voice control system via the D2B. Control data as well as the actual audio signals (e.g. music from CD changer) can be transferred.

Information issued by the radio (A2) is coded message oriented and directly sent to the CAN interior (CAN-B). The instrument cluster (A1) recognizes this message and then actuates the multifunction display (A1p13).

Communication is also sent via the diagnostic interface of the radio (A2) between STAR DIAGNOSIS and all other components of the digital data bus (D2B).
