Function
The central locking (CL) includes locking and unlocking the vehicle doors, the trunk lid and the tank flap

Operation
The central locking (CL) can be operated in various ways:
^ Remote control with transmitter key (A8/1).
^ Control with interior central locking switch (N72/1s6) (up to 31.5.04) or unlock CL interior switch (N72/1s16) and lock CL interior switch (N72/1s26) (as of 1.6.04)
^ By unlocking a vehicle door from inside

Automatic functions
^ Automatic locking
^ Emergency opening after crash recognition
^ Relocking

The central locking (CL) can be operated with the mechanical key only to a limited extent.Only the driver's door and the trunk lid can be opened.
On vehicles with code (551a) Anti-theft alarm system (ATA) an alarm is thereby triggered.

On vehicles with (United States Of America) or (Australia) version, the trunk lid can be opened from the trunk with the emergency opening trunk lid switch (S88/10).
