Navigation Routing Issues In Time/Access Restricted Areas Using Navigation DVD Part Number BQ646 0229

If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles of the Navigation System with Navi Database DVD Part Number BQ646 0229 only having any of the conditions below, this may be due to specified lane attribute handling in the Navigation System. Due to this handling, the system may recommend routing which avoids parts of the highway based on time/access restricted areas, such as High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lanes. Should this routing error occurs, install Navigation DVD BQ646 0232

Conditions:

^ The recommended route may seem illogical or incorrect.

^ As the system avoids these parts of the highway, it may select a route longer than what the user is accustomed to with an earlier Navigation Database DVD.

^ System may also recommend all local roads throughout the entire route (slower traffic and longer time to arrive at destination) whereby this destination could have been reached had the system selected a fully digitized highway

The list shown above contains city areas where this type of error may occur. This error may NOT occur in all cities in this list.

For these model vehicles, the Navigation Module is located in the Trunk/Cargo area:

1. Turn Ignition ON, turn Head Unit ON and turn electrical consumers OFF

2. Eject the installed DVD from the module

3. Insert the new Navigation DVD

4. Allow about 5 minutes for the update process to complete (observe the progress bars on the head unit)

5. Allow CAN and MOST asleep

6. Drive the vehicle to an open area with a clear view of the sky to acquire the GPS satellites

7. Check the Navigation function.
