Power Steering Line/Hose: Service and Repair
Remove/Install Hydraulic Line Of Power Steering
- Upstream of Power Steering Radiator
Shown On Model 211.061:
CAUTION: Before opening the hydraulic system the area surrounding the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system
1.1 Remove trim panels of cylinder head cover
1.2 Remove the engine intake air duct upstream of the left air cleaner
2 Extract oil from power steering pump supply reservoir
3.1 Remove bottom section of sound-proofing capsule
3.2 Remove engine compartment paneling
4 Detach hydraulic line (1) from front axle carrier, to do this, unscrew bolt (2)
5 Separate tie strap (arrow) and disconnect plug from SPS [PML] solenoid valve (Y10)
- Vehicles with speed-sensitive power steering (code 213a)
6 Unscrew bolt (3) and remove hydraulic line (1) from rack-and-pinion steering
NOTE:
- Seal off line connections with plugs.
- Installation: Install new O-ring.
7 Disconnect hydraulic line (1) from radiator (4) of power steering
NOTE: Seal off line connections with plugs.
- Check condition of hose clamp and hydraulic line (1) and replace if necessary.
8 Remove hydraulic line (1) downwards
9 Install in the reverse order
10 Filling and bleeding power steering pump
11 Check function of power steering and for leaks.
