Modification Notes:






Component Identification:






The iPod interface wiring harness (3) is routed starting at the left of the load compartment to the right front footwell. The iPod interface wiring harness (3) is to be routed under the floor covering only. It must be routed and fastened such that any damage and vibration noise is prevented.

1 Unpin the brown/red line from the blue connector (28) of the iPod interface wiring harness (3). Blue plug (28) is still required.


Component Identification:






2 Detach connector housing (6) from audio gateway control unit (N93/1).
3 Detach plug (7) from connector housing (6).
4 Unpin brown (br) line from plug (7) of vehicle's wiring harness and insert brown (br) line of iPod interface wiring harness (3) into same contact cavity of plug (7).
5 Unpin brown/red line from plug (7) of vehicle's wiring harness and insert brown/red line (br/rt) of iPod interface wiring harness (3) into same contact cavity of plug (7).







6 Join plug (7) and connector housing (6).
7 Insert brown (br) and brown/red (br/rt) line of vehicle's wiring harness into any contact cavity of the blue plug (28) and strap down to given wiring harness.

Insert brown (br) and brown/red (br/rt) line of vehicle's wiring harness into blue plug, to avoid any short circuiting.

8 Join connector housing (6) to audio gateway control unit (N93/1).

Don not connect the blue connector housing supplied but strap it down onto wiring harness.

9 Insert plug (27) of iPod interface wiring harness (3) into contact cavity 27 of the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).

Plug position 27 is mechanically coded for the plug (27) of the iPod interface wiring harness (3).

10 Connect ground connection (9) of iPod interface wiring harness (3) to ground (left wheelhouse in luggage compartment) (W6).
11 Connect relay (24) contained in parts kit to socket C of the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).
12 Insert the 7.5 A fuse (25) included in the parts kit into plug position 5 of the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2).







13 Route iPod interface wiring harness (3) as shown in the picture from rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) into the interior and fasten in place using felt strap.







14 Route iPod interface wiring harness (3) into the interior onto the wheel arch as shown and fasten in place.
15 Route iPod interface wiring harness (3) under the floor covering and forwards into the right footwell.

16 Route iPod interface wiring harness (3) as shown into the footwell and attach to given wiring harness.
17 Detach cockpit voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/6).
18 Join CAN plug (21) of iPod interface wiring harness (3) to free plug position of cockpit voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/6).

Connect CAN plug (21) to any free plug position.

19 Connect cockpit voltage distributor (CAN) connector (X30/6).
20 Route branch-off line of iPod interface wiring harness (3) as shown into the radio recess (see arrow).

The plug for the iPod interface wiring harness (19) will be connected at a later stage to the iPod (2) interface.







21 Disconnect connector of on-board AUX cable to COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3) and strap down wiring harness.

The vehicle's AUX cable can no longer be used in combination with the iPod (1).

22 Connect plug (20) of branch-off line to the COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3).
