Operating procedure
When the "Tailgate open" button is pressed, the remote control key (A8/1) sends a radio signal to the antenna in the left quarter light which is relayed by the left antenna amplifier module (A2/64) to the rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/2) The rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/2) sends this signal via the CAN interior compartment bus to the EIS control (N73) to check the access authorization for the remote control key (A8/1)

If access authorization is granted, the EIS control module (N73) sends the command to open the tailgate via the CAN interior compartment bus to the tailgate closing control module (N121/1).

The tailgate closing control module (N121/1) starts the tailgate hydraulic pump (M51/1). The hydraulic cylinder is then filled with oil by the tailgate hydraulic pump (M51/1) and opens the tailgate to the end position over the multiple-joint hinge.

When the tailgate reaches the end position, the trunk lid/tailgate opening angle recognition sensor (B24/16) is actuated and a signal sent to the tailgate closing control module (N121/1) The tailgate closing control module (N121/1) stops the tailgate hydraulic pump (M51/1) upon reaching the end position and the tailgate remains in the open position.

Safety mechanism
With aid of the trunk/tailgate opening angle recognition sensor (B24/16), it is possible for the tailgate closing control module (N121/1) to also start an emergency stop function.If the tailgate hits against an obstacle or is manipulated manually, the trunk lid/ tailgate opening angle recognition sensor (B24/16) registers a change in the tailgate speed The tailgate closing control module (N121/1) then immediately stops the tailgate hydraulic pump (M51/1) and the tailgate stops in the current position

Operating instructions
If the tailgate opening button on the remote control key (A8/1) is actuated again, the tailgate hydraulic pump (M51/1) is stopped immediately. The tailgate then remains in the current position Pressing the button again, continues the opening operation An interruption in the tailgate motion can also be canceled with the tailgate closing switch (S62/36) or (S15)

The tailgate can be released by a CAN message from the EIS control module (N73) by the tailgate control module (N111) All components for tailgate closing are consolidated in the tailgate locking unit (A72)
