- as of 1.9.06 up to Model Year 8
Component Identification:
Location
The NECK-PRO head restraints are installed on the front seats instead of the regular head restraints.
Task
In the event of a crash, the NECK-PRO head restraint is moved forward in order to reduce the distance to the driver's head.
Function
The restraint systems control unit (N2/7) actuates the solenoids. Thanks to a pre-compressed spring, the impact plate of the NECK-PRO head restraint moves forward and at the same time upward.
With the aid of a counter magnetic field, the NECK-PRO head restraint is retained in this position. It is released again by the restraint systems control unit.
