GF40.15-P-5125RE Wheel Antenna, Component Description
GF40.15-P-5125RE Wheel antenna, component description
- with CODE (475) Tire pressure monitor (Siemens)
- up to model year 08
Component Identification:
Tire pressure monitoring (TPM) assists the driver in constantly monitoring the correct tire inflation pressure.
The left front and right front TPM [RDK] wheel antennas are fitted in the front wheelhouses.
The central TPM [RDK] antenna is fitted to the left-hand side of the vehicle underfloor under the rear seats.
Different TPM systems are produced by Beru and Siemens. This must be taken into account when repairing the TPM system.
Left front and right front TPM [RDK] wheel antennae
Task
The left front and right front TPM [RDK] wheel antennae each transmit a trigger signal when prompted to by the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88). These trigger signals received by the TPM [RDK] control unit are used to localize the front wheels and enable wheel-specific pressures to be displayed.
Function
The left front and right front TPM [RDK] wheel antennae are prompted by the TPM [RDK] control unit via a LIN bus to transmit a trigger signal. As a result of the spatial location only one TPM wheel sensor can ever be prompted by a trigger to place the "trigger bit".
Central TPM [RDK] antenna
Task
The central TPM [RDK] antenna receives the following information from the left front TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/1), the right front TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/2), the left rear TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/3) and the right rear TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/4):
^ The absolute pressures in the tires
^ The acceleration
^ The temperatures at the individual TPM wheel sensors
^ ID to identify the wheel
Function
The information transmitted by radio signal is supplied to the TPM [RDK] control unit over a discrete cable.
