GF80.61-P-3012RA Engine Start/Stop, Function
- with CODE (889) Keyless Go

Component Identification:

Start engine

Function requirements
^ The transmitter key is located in the vehicle interior
^ The selector lever is in position "P" or "N" (on vehicles with code (494) USA version only in position "P")
^ Service brake applied

Function
The Keyless-Go system (KG) is woken up by pressing the KEYLESS-GO start/stop button which is read in by the KEYLESS-Go control unit. The transmitter key is woken up via the left door KEYLESS-GO antenna or right door KEYLESS-GO antenna and is requested to transmit its access authorization code.
This authorization code is received by the rear KEYLESS-GO antenna and is relayed to the EIS control module via the KEYLESS-GO control unit.

If the access authorization code is valid, circuit 15R and circuit 15 are switched on by the EIS control unit and the engine is started via the ME-SFI control unit.

When the KEYLESS-GO start/stop button is pressed without actuating the service brake, circuit 15R is switched on first, and by actuating again, circuit 15.
Actuating once more switches off both circuits. If the driver door is closed, circuit 15C remains switched on approx. 30 minutes.

Messages
If no transmitter key is present when attempting to start, the instrument cluster indicates "Key not recognized" and circuit 15R and circuit 15 remain off.
If the selector lever is not in the corresponding position when attempting to start, the instrument cluster indicates "Selector lever to P or N".

Switch off engine
Function requirement
^ The selector lever is in position "P" or "N", (on vehicles with code (494) USA version only in position "P")

Function
When the KEYLESS-GO start/stop button is pressed, the signal "Switch off engine" is transmitted to the EIS control unit via the KEYLESS-GO control unit
The engine is switched off by the EIS control unit via the ME-SFI control unit.

Circuit 15R remains activated until the driver door is opened, however, only for a maximum of 30 min. When the driver door is opened, the ignition is switched off completely.

Messages
If a door is opened when the engine is running and the vehicle is standing still, the EIS control unit checks the key when restarting. If no valid transmitter key is recognized, a corresponding message appears in the instrument cluster.

If the selector lever is not in position "P" or "N" when an attempt is made to switch the engine off, the note "Selector lever to P or N" appears in the instrument cluster.

If the selector lever is not in position "P" when the engine is switched off, and the driver door is open, an acoustic warning signal sounds and the text appears in the instrument cluster: "Selector lever to P or N".

If the transmitter key can no longer be located in the passenger compartment after starting the engine (system error or transmitter key not present), the instrument cluster outputs a warning message for approx. 5 s.
This is repeated every 5 km. After driving > 20 km a continuous warning message sounds and an intermittent gong sound.

Vehicles up to 31.5.07:
The next time the vehicle is stopped (v = 0 km/h), the engine is switched off automatically.

Vehicles as of 1.6.07
These warning messages are output until the driver shuts off the engine (no automatic switch-off of the engine)

In this case it is no longer possible to start the engine on both versions.
