AP32.50-P-3213I Active Body Control (ABC) - Check/Correct Fluid Level

Active Body Control - Checking and Correcting Fluid Level

DANGER:
- Risk of injury to skin or eyes from hydraulic fluid spraying out under pressure. Risk of poisoning from swallowing hydraulic fluid.
- Render the hydraulic system pressureless before commencing work on system. Wear protective clothing and eye protection.

1 With the engine running, press the level control switch repeatedly until both indicator lamps in the level control switch go out
2 Remove key from EIS control unit

NOTE: Vehicles with Keyless Go, code 889: Press Start/Stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off.

3 Wait approx. 5 minutes for the vehicle to settle
4 Remove cap with dipstick (2a) from supply reservoir (2) and wipe dipstick (2a) with a lint-free cloth
5 Insert cap with dipstick (2a) into supply reservoir (2), pull back out and read off fluid level on dipstick (2a)

NOTE:
- The fluid level can only be measured correctly when the vehicle is unladen.
- Read off fluid level on dipstick (2a) on the side with the inscription "ENGINE OFF UNLADEN".
- The fluid level must be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks.

6 If the fluid level is too low, locate and rectify the cause

NOTE: Check the entire hydraulic system for leaks.

CAUTION: Before opening the ABC system, thoroughly clean the area around the separation point. Even the smallest dirt particles introduced into the hydraulic components can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the ABC system.

7 Correct fluid level

CAUTION: Only use the funnel (060) with filter for filling hydraulic fluid. The funnel (060) must not be used with other operating fluids. To avoid contamination in the ABC system, the funnel (060) must be kept in a locked cabinet.
