Switching D2B telephone (portable cellular telephone) on and off
The status of the D2B telephone in the D2B ring depends exclusively on the status of circuit 15 (ignition ON/OFF). Information on the status of circuit 15 is provided to the telephone interface (A34/4) by the COMAND or radio via the D2B ring. The telephone interface (A34/4) is connected to circuit 30 and circuit 15R and switches the portable cellular telephone on or off when a command from the head unit is received via the D2B ring or an external wake-up line.
After switching off the ignition, the telephone interface (A34/4) and therefore the telephone remains switched on for a switch-off delay time of t=10 min. and is then switched off. It is not possible to influence switch on/switch off of the D2B telephone by programming the portable cellular telephone.
The shut-off delay of the portable cellular telephone can be changed within the range of t=0-60 min with the telephone book entry "SHUT OFF DELAY TIME" (entry on SIM card). The number of the corresponding telephone book entry corresponds to the shut-off delay time.
System characteristics
The telephone interface (A34/4) has 3 operating states.
- Power-down mode
Interface is switched off except for the external wake-up line.
- Idle mode or shut-off delay mode
The remaining components of the D2B ring are shut off, only the interface remains active for t=10 min after switching off the D2B ring (ignition OFF). Pressing any key during the shut-off delay time increases the shut-off delay time by t=60 min.
- Active mode
The interface as well as the remaining components of the D2B ring are active and available to the user.
Switch-on operation
1. Current status: Ignition ON, telephone interface (A34/4) in inactive mode (power-down mode), telephone not ready for operation.
The telephone interface (A34/4) is switched to the active mode when:
- a portable cellular telephone in the switched on state is plugged into the portable cellular telephone cradle
- a portable cellular telephone plugged into the cradle is switched on
- a call is made or received with the portable cellular telephone plugged in and switched on
- a wake-up signal from another D2B ring subscriber is recognized via the external wake-up line
2. Current status: Ignition OFF, telephone interface (A34/4) in shut-off delay phase (idle mode) and D2B ring in inactive state (shut off)
The telephone interface (A34/4) goes to the active mode when:
- a call is made or received with the portable cellular telephone plugged in and switched on
- a wake-up signal from another D2B ring subscriber is recognized via the external wake-up line
Switch-off operation
Telephone interface (A34/4) in shut-off delay phase (idle mode) and D2B ring switched off.
The interface remains switched off as long as no portable cellular telephone is plugged in or any portable cellular telephone plugged in is switched off.
The following cases are possible depending on the status of circuit 15:
- Circuit 15 ON
After expiration of the shut-off delay time of t=10 min (no buttons pressed on portable cellular telephone within shut off delay time), the interface switches off (power-down mode). In this case, the status of the portable cellular telephones plugged in does not change, meaning that when a portable cellular telephone is plugged in and switched on, it remains switched on and is not switched off by the interface.
- Circuit 15 OFF
After expiration of the shut-off delay time of t=10 min (no buttons pressed on portable cellular telephone within shutoff delay time), the interface switches off (power-down mode). In this case, the status of the portable cellular telephone plugged in changes, meaning a portable cellular telephone plugged in and switched on is switched off by the interface.
The shut-off delay time for the portable cellular telephone can be changed by an entry on the SIM card (0-60 min). For this purpose, the desired time can be entered in the same manner as a telephone number under the menu point "SHUT-OFF DELAY TIME".
When the D2B ring is deactivated, the telephone interface (A34/4) is switched off when no portable cellular telephone is plugged in or a portable cellular telephone is plugged in but not switched on. The interface remains active for the shut-off delay time when a switched on portable cellular telephone is plugged in.
