Storing entries in the telephone book
The voice control system (VCS) allows users to store new entries in the VCS telephone book.
A35/11 Telephone numbers called frequently can be stored there together under freely selectable names. 30 - 50 entries can be stored depending on the length of the names selected.
To add entries to the telephone book, the user first activates the VCS by operating the VCS switch (S93/2) and then activates the telephone application by means of the VCS by speaking the command "Telephone". The following commands are available:
^ Store name
^ Store number
^ Store telephone number

After a command (e.g. "Store telephone number") has been successfully recognized, the VCS prompts the user to enter a telephone number.

The entries stored in the telephone book can only be called up reliably by the users who store them.

This can be accomplished by saying either:
^ Blocks of numbers, suitable for entry of longer numbers (approx. 3-5 numbers per number block, with a speech pause of approx. 0.5 s in between each block)

or by entering:
^ Number strings (up to 30 digits, spoken without pause)

If an error occurs when entering the desired telephone number, such as improper recognition of a number by the VCS or incorrect entry by the user, it is possible for the user to delete or correct the number.
If no errors occurred while entering the number, the VCS requests the user to "Please say the name" after the command "Store". When this name has been entered by the user, the VCS prompts the user to repeat the name as confirmation.
If a different name is given when the name repeated, the VCS voice output requests the user to "Please say again". If the user then enters the first name, the VCS requests the user to repeat the name again.
The system stores the telephone book entry (name and associated number) in the telephone book only if the associated name and its repetition are identical.

The system voice output indicates "Name and number stored".

Calling up telephone book entries
The user can have the entries in the telephone book read aloud by the VCS by saying the voice command "Read telephone book". In doing so, the user can select a certain name and thus start the dialing process.

Deleting individual entries in telephone book
The user can delete an individual entry from the telephone book by saying the voice command "Delete name". The VCS then requests the user to say the name to be deleted.

After entry of the name by the user, the user is asked by the VCS to confirm that the name selected should really be deleted. If the user responds with "Yes", the entry is deleted. The VCS confirms this action with the voice output: "Name being deleted". If the user answers "No", the name remains stored. Any other word spoken by the user terminates the dialog with the VCS

Deleting all entries in the telephone book
The user can delete all entries from the telephone book by saying the voice command "Delete telephone book".
During the dialog, the VCS asks "Would you like to delete the telephone book?" If the user responds with "Yes", the VCS asks the security prompt "Are you sure?" If the user again says "Yes", the VCS causes all the entries in the telephone book to be deleted.

If the user responds with "No", the VCS starts reading the telephone book entries aloud. While the telephone book is being read aloud, the user can select a name to be deleted by actuating (activating) the VCS switch (S93/2). The selected name is then repeated by the VCS voice output, and the user is prompted with the question "Would you like to delete the name?" to confirm deletion of the name. The user is then asked by the VCS to confirm that the name selected should really be deleted. If the user answers "No", the system continues to read the telephone book entries aloud. Any other word terminates dialog with the VCS.
The user can interrupt the dialog with the VCS at any time by activating the VCS switch (S93/2).

Deleting or correcting number chains/blocks during number entry
If, during entry, a number is incorrectly recognized by the VCS or the user made an incorrect entry, the user can correct the number depending on how it has been entered (number string or number blocks).

If the number has been entered as a number string (spoken without pauses), the number can only be changed with the following editing commands:
^ Delete
^ Delete number
^ Delete telephone number
This means that all numbers entered previously are deleted and the VCS outputs a message to the user via voice output indicating "Number deleted, please say number or command".

If the number has been stored as a series of number blocks (3-5 numbers per block, speech pause of 0.5 s between individual blocks), the number can be changed with the following editing commands
^ Correct
^ Correction
^ Correct number
^ Correct telephone number
This means that the block of numbers entered last is deleted and the number blocks entered previous to that one are repeated by the VCS.
The VCS then prompts the user with the voice output "Continue" to enter either more numbers or a command.

With both types of number entry, the VCS outputs the message "Number too long" via voice output when more than 30 digits are entered without a pause. The user is then requested to enter the number as a series of number blocks.
Numbers entered as a series of number blocks can be more than 30 digits long. Furthermore, if during entry a number is incorrectly recognized by the VCS or the user makes an incorrect entry, the user can easily correct the number.

If the user wants to check the numbers already entered by listening to them again, this is possible with the voice command "Repeat".
The VCS then repeats all of the numbers entered so far and then prompts the user with the voice output "Continue" to enter either more numbers or a command.
