If solenoid winding (13) is energized, the nozzle needle (11) is raised by the solenoid armature (12) about 0.1 mm against the force of the coil spring (7).
The fuel escapes through an outlet hole (10) and is sprayed onto the intake valves in a finely atomized spray.

The voltage supply of the fuel injection valves (Y62) is performed from terminal 87M. The actuation is performed by the ME control unit by means of appropriately long electric ground pulses.

The fuel injection valves are actuated by the ME-SFI control unit, in other words one injection valve is assigned to each cylinder which meters the quantity of fuel calculated for the cylinder.

In case of detected misfires, the actuation of the corresponding cylinder is interrupted.
