1 Turn the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) so that the couplings are easily accessible in the lower area.
2 Connect pink/red line (rs/rt) of daytime running lights wiring harness with a potential distributor (10) to the pink/red line (rs/rt) in slot 6 of the gray 13-pin coupling (9).
Position potential distributor (10) approx. 150 mm behind the gray 13-pin coupling (9).
3 Connect gray/red line (gr/rt) of daytime running lights wiring harness with a potential distributor (10) to the gray/red line (gr/ rt) in slot 2 of the green 10-pin coupling (11).
Position potential distributor (10) approx. 150 mm behind the green 10-pin coupling (11).
4 Connect red/green line (rt/gn) of daytime running lights wiring harness with a potential distributor (10) to the red/green line (rt/ gn) in slot 10 of the yellow 12-pin coupling (12).
If a red/green line (rt/gn) is installed in the slot 10 of the yellow 12-pin coupling (12) on the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).
Position potential distributor (10) approx. 150 mm behind the yellow 12-pin coupling (12).
Operation step 5 to 8 only for vehicles without red/green line (rt/ gn) in slot 10 of the yellow 12-pin coupling (12).
5 Disconnect yellow 12-pin coupling (12) from slot (arrow A) on front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).
6 Connect plug contact SLK (13) to red/green line (rt/gn) of wiring harness for daytime running lights.
7 Install red/green line (rt/gn) of wiring harness for daytime running lights into slot 10 of the yellow 12-pin coupling (12).
8 Connect yellow 12-pin coupling (12) into slot (arrow A) on front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).
9 Align front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) with attachment points.
10 Lift front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) and position threshold switch (8) for right daytime running lights wiring harness (7) into rear area of fuse box (14).
11 Align front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) with attachment points in fuse box (14).
12 Remove grommet (15) from fuse box (14).
The removed grommet (15) is no longer required.
13 Insert grommet (16) with daytime running lights wiring harness (7) into fuse box (14).
14 Route daytime running lights wiring harness (7), as shown, to left major assembly compartment ground point (W16/3).
Route the daytime running lights wiring harness (7) under the seal (17) and fasten in place so that it does not chafe against the A/C line (14) on vehicles with code (580) Automatic air conditioning or code (581) Comfort automatic air conditioning.
15 Connect brown line (br) of daytime running lights wiring harness (7) to left major assembly compartment ground point (W16/3).
16 Route daytime running lights wiring harness (7), as shown, along the vehicle wiring harness to the installation locations (arrows B) for the daytime running lights headlamps.
Route the longer of the two branchoff lines along the engine hood cable on the front module (18) to the right side of the vehicle.
17 Fasten daytime running lights wiring harness (7) using cable ties (19) to the vehicle wiring harness.
18 Route branch-off line for the left daytime running lights headlamp of the daytime running lights wiring harness (7) along the wiring harness of the left front lamp unit (E1) and fix in place using cable ties.
19 Hook daytime running lights wiring harness (7) into holders (arrows C) for engine hood cable.
20 Fasten daytime running lights wiring harness (7) using cable ties (19) to the engine hood cable.
21 Route branch-off line for the right daytime running lights headlamp (7) along the wiring harness of the right front lamp unit (E2) and fix in place using cable ties.
