N32/1 Driver seat control unit

Location
The driver seat control unit is located beneath the seat cushion on the driver seat frame.

Tasks
- Control of the seat and steering column adjustment as per the requests via the interior CAN (CAN B)
- Storing the memory settings for seat, steering column, and outside mirror
- Control of the easy entry/exit feature
- Control of head restraint presetting

Also in model 204.0/2 as of 1.6.09 and model 204.3/9:
- Power supply for driver seat lumbar support setting control unit (N32/23)

The driver seat control unit has the following tasks:
^ Reading in of sensors and signals
^ Evaluation of input factors
^ Actuation of components

Reading in of sensors and signals
The driver seat control unit reads in the input factors through the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN

Direct line
The following sensors are read in via direct lines:
- Hall sensors of the seat adjustment motors
- Hall sensors of the steering column adjustment motors
- EASY-ENTRY system limit switch, driver seat (S159/3) (in model 204.3)

The EASY-ENTRY system limit switch of two contact switches, backrest inclination switch contact switch and backrest release contact switch.

Interior CAN
The signals are read in by the driver seat control unit over the interior CAN. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant components are then actuated.

Actuation of components
The actuation of the components takes place via the following connections:
^ Direct line
^ Interior CAN

Direct line
The following motors are actuated via direct lines:
- Steering column in/out adjustment motor (M20/1)
- Steering column up/down adjustment motor (M20/2)
- Driver seat fore/aft adjustment motor (M27/1)
- Driver seat height adjustment motor (M27/2)
- Driver seat inclination adjustment motor (M27/3)
- Driver seat head restraint adjustment motor (M27/4)
- Driver seat backrest inclination adjustment motor (M27/5)
- Driver seat lumbar support setting control unit (in model 204.0/2 as of 1.6.09 and model 204.3/9)

Interior CAN
The signals are sent by the driver seat control unit over the interior CAN.
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see block diagram or function schematic).

Variants
There are no variants for the hardware of the driver seat control unit.
The country or left-hand drive vehicle/right hand drive vehicle allocation is software coded.
