GF82.10-P-3070CE Front Fog Light Actuation, Function
GF82.10-P-3070CE Front Fog Light Actuation, Function
MODEL 204.0 /2 as of model year 2009 /YoM 08
MODEL 204.3
MODEL 204.9
Function requirements, general
^ No overvoltage or undervoltage (operating voltage range U greater than or equal to 7 less than or equal to 17.5 V)
^ Standing lights (exterior lights switch (S1) in "Standing lights" position or "Manual driving lights" position), on vehicles with code (494) USA version only in "Manual driving lights" position"
^ Circuit 15 ON (when coded)
^ Exterior lights switch in position "A" (as of 1.6.10)
The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) transmits the circuit 15 status to the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) over the interior CAN (CAN B).
Front fog light actuation, general
Front fog light actuation provides better illumination of the road while driving as well as illuminating the rear of the vehicle under bad weather conditions.
During front fog light actuation the standing light actuation is active, this is described in the "Standing/parking lights actuation function" document.
The front fog light actuation consists of the following subfunctions:
^ Front fog light actuation function sequence (up to 30.11.09 and as of 1.12.09 without code (621)
Intelligent light system (left-hand traffic) and without code (622) Intelligent light system (right-hand traffic) or with code (498) Japan version)
^ Function sequence for rear fog light actuation
Front fog lamp actuation function sequence (up to 30.11.09 and as of 1.12.09 without code (621) Intelligent light system (left-hand traffic) and without code (622) Intelligent light system (right-hand traffic) or with code (498) Japan version)
Vehicles up to 31.5.10:
Pulling out the exterior lights switch up to the first notch requests actuation of the front fog lamps.
The front SAM control unit reads in the status of the exterior lights switch via the instrument panel LIN (LIN 1).
Vehicles as of 1.6.10:
After pressing the front fog lamp switch (S1s11) on the exterior lights switch, the front fog lamp actuation is requested.
The front SAM control unit directly reads in the status of the front fog lamp button.
The front SAM control unit actuates the left front fog lamp (E5/1) and the right front fog lamp (E5/2).
The active front fog light actuation is indicated visually to the driver.
In vehicles up to 31.5.09 the front SAM control unit actuates the front fog lamp indicator lamp (S1e1) in the exterior lights switch over the instrument panel LIN.
In vehicles as of 1.6.09 the front SAM control unit sends the request "Front fog lamp indicator lamp On" over the interior CAN to the instrument cluster (A1), which then actuates the front fog lamp indicator lamp (A1e57).
When the substitute lamp actuation function is requested, the front fog lamps are actuated corresponding to the requested automatic lamp substitution function.
With code (460) Canada version or code (494) USA version the front fog lamp and high beam actuation functions may not be executed simultaneously.
The last incoming request has priority.
Function sequence for rear fog light actuation
Vehicles up to 31.5.10:
Rear fog light actuation is requested by pulling out the exterior light switch until the first detent (vehicles without front fog lamps) or the second detent (vehicles with front fog lamps).
The front SAM control unit reads in the status of the exterior lights switch via instrument panel LIN.
Vehicles as of 1.6.10:
The rear fog light actuation is requested by pressing the rear fog light button (S1s10) on the exterior lights switch.
The front SAM control unit directly reads in the status of the rear fog light button.
The front SAM control unit then sends the "rear fog light On" request over the interior CAN to the rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2) and to the trailer recognition control unit (N28/1) (with code (550) Trailer hitch).
The rear SAM control unit actuates the left rear fog light (E3e5) in the left rear lamp unit (E3) or the right rear fog light (E4e5) in the right rear lamp unit (E4) in accordance with the national code.
The trailer recognition control unit actuates the relevant rear fog light on the trailer via the trailer socket (X58).
The rear fog light on the vehicle is not actuated during trailer operation. For this purpose, the trailer recognition control unit sends a corresponding signal with the information "Operational rear fog lamp exists on trailer" via interior CAN to the rear SAM control unit.
The active rear fog light actuation is indicated visually to the driver.
In vehicles up to 31.5.09 the front SAM control unit actuates the rear fog light indicator lamp (S1e2) in the exterior lights switch over the instrument panel LIN.
In vehicles as of 1.6.09, the front SAM control unit sends the "Rear fog light indicator lamp On" request over interior CAN to the instrument cluster, which then actuates the rear fog light indicator lamp (A1e18).
If the transmitter key (A8/1) is removed from the electronic ignition lock control unit while the rear fog light actuation is active and the driver door is then opened in vehicles up to 31.5.09 the instrument cluster actuates the warning buzzer (A1h1) and shows a corresponding message on the travel distance display (A1p7) (model 204.0/2/3/9 (except 204.077/277/377) without code (442) Comfort multifunction steering wheel) or the multifunction display (A1p13) (with code (442) Comfort multifunction steering wheel, model 204.077/277/377).
The request to deactivate rear fog light actuation via the exterior lights switch prevents the automatic actuation of the rear fog light the next time the vehicle is driven with the low beams switched on.
